Northwest Louisiana HBA Members have access to several insurance programs through third-party providers.

WORKERS COMP through Homebuilders Self Insurers Fund

Builders and contractors have unique needs when it comes to their business insurance. The Homebuilders Self Insurers Fund understands this, which is in part why they were formed in the first place. Created in 1979, the fund began in response to the turmoil of the commercial insurance marketplace. Insurance carriers were exiting Louisiana, and builders were faced with rising insurance costs, poor service, and mounting problems. The answer was the Homebuilders Self Insurers Fund - a workers' compensation program built specifically for the construction industry.

GENERAL LIABILITY through Louisiana Home Builders Association General Liability Trust

The Trust is its own separate legal entity, with its own Board of Trustees who governs the entity on behalf of the indemnities who own the Trust. Unlike an insurance company, the Trust is owned and controlled by the builders, all of whom are required to be members of LHBA. Since the members of the Trust own the Trust, it can pay dividends once surplus monies are available to return. The Trust offers a value to the builder that cannot be matched by any other general liability provider and offers general liability at cost.
